Story
Inspired by the Sunday hardcore matinees of New York’s legendary club CBGB’s and the thrash metal nights at Brooklyn’s L’Amours, the band Enrage was formed by childhood friends.
The band’s first proper demo “Burning Within” was produced by Josh Silver of Type O Negative selling over 3,000 copies.
Demo sales as well as subsequent recordings earned the band gigs at L’Amour’s , NYC’s Limelight, The Wetlands, CBGB’s, and Coney Island High.
Enrage became fortunate enough to play with a wide variety of bands such as:
Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, Biohazard, Carnivore, Cro-Mags, The Dickies, Dog Eat Dog, Earth Crisis, E Town Concrete, Full Blown Chaos, Gwar, Hatebreed, Kreator, Leeway, Life of Agony, Lords of Brooklyn, Michael Graves of The Misfits, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Murphy’s Law, Morbid Angel, Only Living Witness, Overkill, Prong, Sam Black Church, Sick 0f It All, Testament, Thy Will Be Done, Type O Negative, Soulfly, DRI and Vision of Disorder.
Enrage released their first full length in 1995 called “Empty.” “Empty” was produced by Noah Evans, who had previously worked with the Beastie Boys, Lucious Jackson, Bad Brains, Cro-Mags, Fear, and Sick Of It All.
Millions of listeners heard Howard Stern play “Cooper”, a cut from the CD about the legendary comedian Pat Cooper. Stern read the lyrics and give Enrage a positive review over the airwaves.
After a brief hiatus, Enrage was surprised to find a renewed interest in the band stateside as well as overseas.
The band regrouped with a new lineup and released “Nothing Stays Buried” in 2010. Nothing Stays Buried climbed to the Top 25 of the CMJ Loud Rock charts upon its release and was played extensively on various college radio and foreign radio. This helped the band tour overseas as well as play in the United States in support of this release.
Enrage continued to play and perform throughout the years. The band released three mini-EPs: Gateways Vol. 1 in 2014, Gateways Vol. 2 in 2016 and Gateways Vol. 3 in 2018. This was followed by the “I Wanna EP Somebody” EP in 2020. This EP contained a popular cover of the WASP classic “I Wanna Be Somebody” as well as a new song “All Right”
“Old Boy” is the first single to be released off the forthcoming full-length title “The Greys” which will be released in April 2025.
